Idlis are a favourite breakfast dish in almost all parts of India. Bajra/Kambu and horsegram/Kollu are very helpful in maintaining the body weight and this nutritious breakfast keeps the tummy full for long hours and gives good energy.

  1. Wash and soak Poha, urad dal and methi seeds together for 2 hours.
  2. Add water to bajra flour and make a batter. Ensure that there are no lumps.
  3. In a blender,  grind the sprouted horsegram first by adding a few tablespoons of water. When it becomes soft, add  poha dal mixture and grind smoothly.

    1. Hi Jacqueline,
Thanks for trying and validating the recipe. Happy to know that your idlis were soft. A healthy way to include all pulses!! Happy for you!!

  2. Hello,

Is it 1/2 cup of sprouted horsegram or 1/2 cup of raw horsegram that needs to be soaked and sprouted?

If it is the former then what is the measure for raw kollu.
