Sprouted Horsegram Bajra Idlis

Idlis are a favourite breakfast dish in almost all parts of India. Bajra/Kambu and horsegram/Kollu are very helpful in maintaining the body weight and this nutritious breakfast keeps the tummy full for long hours and gives good energy.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Wash and soak Poha, urad dal and methi seeds together for 2 hours.
  2. Add water to bajra flour and make a batter. Ensure that there are no lumps.
  3. In a blender,  grind the sprouted horsegram first by adding a few tablespoons of water. When it becomes soft, add  poha dal mixture and grind smoothly.
  4. Mix everything well by adding salt. The batter should be of  idli batter consistency.
  5. Ferment for 10 hours or overnight.
  6. Make idlis and serve with chutney/sambar.

    If am using the whole bajra and not the flour whats the quantity I have to use and how long should I soak it to grind?

    Is it 1/2 cup of sprouted horsegram or 1/2 cup of raw horsegram that needs to be soaked and sprouted?

    If it is the former then what is the measure for raw kollu.
