Cantaloupe Rasam

Rasam is an integral part of South Indian cuisine. Many fruits are used to make this spiced soup. Cantaloupes are available in plenty during summer. This rasam tastes excellent when mixed with hot rice!

Ingredients:

Seasoning:
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds and Jeera in a tsp of Ghee

Directions:

  1. In a 2 ltr Pressure Cooker add all the ingredients except coriander leaves and lemon juice.
  2. Cook for 2 whistles and switch off.
  3. Open after pressure settles down.
  4. Add the seasoning, lemon juice and coriander leaves
  5. Yummy Cantaloupe Rasam ready!

  1. Hi Ma’am…prepared cantaloupe Raman today… Wanted to have it little thick so, reduced little water from the recipe n everything else same measurements. It was awesome in taste and we can have it as a soup too. Everyone at home loved it. Thank you for sharing the wonderful recipe.

      All melons are good for diabetes. Consult your doctor whether you can have this fruit. I regularly have this during the cantaloupe season. Melons have lots of fiber water and they are low in calories. For rasam you are going to use a very little quantity. So it should not be a problem.
