Semiya Bagala baath is a delicacy which is prepared with vermicelli and curd. Purattasi month starts from tomorrow and it is considered very auspicious for Sriman Narayanan or Perumal. Different varieties of Prasad are offered to him and one of the easiest and tasty dish is Bagala Baath. It can be prepared either with semiya or rice. In this recipe I have used millet vermicelli. Try this recipe for the upcoming Purattasi/Bhadrapad month.

  • 1/2 Tsp each of Urad dal and Chana Dal
  • 1'' Finely Chopped Ginger

  • 1/8 Tsp Asafoetida Powder

Directions:

  1. Heat a pan and do the seasoning. Keep aside.
  2. In a 2 Ltr Cooker add a cup of water. In a small vessel add vermicelli and milk. Cover with a lid. Cook for 2 Whistles. Let pressure settle down.
  3. Open and allow the cooked vermicelli to cool down. Add curd, salt and the seasoning. Mix well.
  4. Finally add curry leaves, coriander leaves, carrots and decorate with pomegranate pearls.

Note:

  • If needed, add more curd and milk while mixing.

  • Black grapes, roasted cashews can also be added to enhance the taste.
  • Can mix in a tbsp of white butter for a creamy texture.
