Gongura pacchadi or thokku is a fantastic recipe from Andhra cuisine. Gongura Leaves are a rich source of iron, vitamins, folic acid and anti-oxidants essential for human nutrition. It is also an excellent source of vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin B1 (thiamin), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B9 (folic acid) and vitamin C. They are rich in essential minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. Try this easy pulav recipe with Gongura thokku/pickles/pachadi .

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 Cups Cooked and cooled Little Millet
  • 2 Tbsp Gongura Pachadi/Thokku
  • 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1/2 Tsp Chopped Garlic cloves

Directions:

  1. Heat a pan on medium heat and add oil. Sauté garlic pieces and chopped onion till they slightly become transparent and pinkish in colour.
  2. Add gongura thokku and mix well. Now add the millet. Keeping the heat on low, mix everything well. Turn off heat.
  3. Lipsmacking Gongura pulav is ready.

Note:

  • Other millets like Kodo, Foxtail, Barnyard or Proso can be used for this recipe.
