Aval/Poha/Avalakki is made into a sweet dish either by adding sugar or Jaggery and offered as prasad during puja. It is a very simple dish and can be made easily. Any millet flakes / poha/ aval can be used for this recipe.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Wash the poha under running water and drain completely. Using a small sieve for this purpose will give perfect result.
  2. In a pan add water and jaggery. Allow it to cook for 2 minutes to form a medium thick syrup.
  3. Mix in cardamom powder and ghee.
  4. Add drained poha.
  5. Mix well on low heat for 2 minutes. Keep the pan covered for 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish with grated coconut and nuts. Serve warm.
