Multi Millet Flour is very useful for making many dishes. I have shared a lot of recipes using this flour. I often receive query regarding how to make the flour. So thought of sharing the recipe today. I learnt the basic recipe from my friend and improved it so that it can be used for making snacks also.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Mix all the millets well.
  2. Wash 2 to 3 times well and shade dry on a cotton cloth for 2 to 3 days till it becomes completely dry.
  3. Grind to a fine flour in a nearby mill.
  4. This is known as processed flour which is best suited for making snacks like murukku, omapodi  etc.

Note:

1. I don’t add Finger Millet/Ragi and Pearl Millet/Bajra/Kambu because both give a dark colour to the flour. Moreover, bajra turns slightly bitter if kept for a long time. So, it is better to avoid these two.

Once the multi millet flour is ready, you can use it to prepare these excellent dishes: OmapodiOPOS Tiranga Morkali, and Multi Millet Flour Dosa.

  1. I had been told by some one not to mix all millets and take it individually. Is there harm in mixing all the 5 millets

    1. Hi Sofia,
Yes, you can use this flour for baking. I’ve used it and also shared a recipe. But it can’t substitute for apf as millets are gluten free. You need a little qty of either apf or wheat
flour. Check the baking section in the website.

  2. Hello mam,

I don’t live in india . I’m wondering if I can grind the multi millets in mixer grinder to make flour ? I don’t have a mill to make powder. Your help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Lakshmi

    1. Hi Lakshmi,
You can grind using a mixie. Grind and seive a couple of times to get soft flour. Add store bought Jowar flour because it’s tough to grind in a mixie.

    1. Hi Priya,
This flour is like other flours and can be stored for 3 to 4 months. Make sure that you dry the grains well before sending it to the mill. Thanks so much for your visit.
